The security bonus, i.e. the 50% tax deduction for improving the general security conditions of homes, has been extended until 31 December 2024. Savings can be made on the purchase and installation of burglar alarm systems, armoured doors, and also on the installation of metal roller shutters with locks.

Security bonus, what is it?

This is a 50% tax deduction on expenses incurred for the purchase and installation of home security systems up to a maximum limit of 96,000 euros. The reimbursement takes the form of an income tax deduction and is divided into 10 equal annual instalments. The bonus, which covers both the expenses for the purchase of the security systems and those for their installation, can be claimed until the end of 2024. The security bonus, as well as most of the expenses covered by the 50% deduction for renovations, can be enjoyed by all persons liable to pay income tax. The deduction is part of the home bonus and can be claimed by homeowners, building unit owners and tenants who carry out security measures in the property in which they reside.
